Past Present Perfect

Past Present Perfect

The "Past Present Perfect" exhibition is a main exhibition and important component showcasing results from the Student Workshop, presenting student works covering the thinking process, design process, experiencing various dimensions of architectural work, and prototype models of new designs. This exhibition helps convey stories of Thai architecture from the past reinterpreted in the present, reflecting the role of architects in the current era who must combine knowledge and creativity for a sustainable future.

Both parts will make ASA'68 a space for learning, sharing, and connecting knowledge between generations, while inspiring new directions for Thai architecture in the future.

ASA Student Workshop 2025

Architectural Design Workshop Program for University Students

Under the concept "Past Present Perfect"

Principles and Rationale

ASA Student Workshop 2025 is a workshop program organized by The Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage (ASA). It aims to enhance knowledge and design skills for architecture students through in-depth learning about the value of contemporary Thai architecture from past to present under the concept "Review Direction: Past Present Perfect." This activity welcomes students from architecture schools nationwide to participate in studying, surveying, and analyzing valuable contemporary Thai architecture through 8 important case study buildings, such as Kad Waroros Building (Chiang Mai), Robot Building (Bangkok), Guru Sammanakarn Building (Nakhon Ratchasima), and Fak Thong Building (Southern Region).

This workshop program focuses on studying architectural values and qualities, such as the quality of space and beauty of architectural language, through interpretation and design experimentation to create development approaches for contemporary Thai architecture in new contexts. Activities include fieldwork, group work with fellow students, faculty members and professional architects, and prototype architectural design to present new concepts reflecting past values, adapting to the present, and appropriately responding to future contexts.

The Association invites architecture students to join ASA Student Workshop 2025 to collaboratively create and define new directions for Thai architecture through thinking, analysis, and design to create works that can communicate value and sustainably address future challenges.

Objectives:

To create a process for analyzing site potential, target groups, and space roles from architecture students' perspectives

To present concepts, project details and design works leading to concrete space development processes

To provide collaborative work experience for students and faculty from 37 architecture educational institutions, fostering public volunteer spirit and creative economy design for society

To practice integrating environmentally friendly design, sustainable development with relevant technologies, study field visits, design practice, and brainstorming with experts and academics from various sectors, gathering academic issues to jointly find ways to cope with development-induced changes

To cultivate consciousness in environmentally friendly design and sustainable development among participants, disseminate knowledge exchange to society, aiming to raise awareness of environmental issues, recognize the value of design with context and vernacular architectural language, building foundation for sustainable network learning society and implementation guidelines
