ABOUT THE SPEAKER
A ski jumper turned architect, Chris Precht grew up in a small village near Salzburg where he was surrounded by mountains in his childhood. When Precht decided to switch his focus from practicing sky jumping to studying architecture at the age 19, the nature he was familiar with still played an important part on his practice. It was the origin of the core foundation of his work until these days, which is the connection to a natural environment and the importance of a balanced relation between humans and nature.
An Institute for Experimental Architecture alumnus, he studied there under Patrik Schumacher (Zaha Hadid Architects) and Kjetil Thorsen (Snohetta) and later started teaching classes at the institute. He also graduated with honours from the Technical University of Vienna in 2013. However, his fame began even before that. Prior to receiving his master’s degree, his work was exhibited at the Best of 2009 Student Exhibition in Innsbruck and at the Künstlerhaus in Salzburg in 2011.
Previously, Precht was the founder and director of Prechteck, a collaboration of international creatives. Then in 2013, together with his partner Dayong Sun, Precht founded Penda, an architecture firm known for architecture, landscape, interior, and branding design. The two partners believe that architecture can serve as a bridge, which connects nature, culture, and people to strive for a better quality of living.
Based in both Salzburg and Beijing, the company is truly a success. During the past few years alone, he has received around 30 design awards and nominations. In 2016, Archipreneur ranked Penda on the top their list for the world’s best Architectural Startups. In Dezeen’s Hotlist 400 of the World’s Best Architects, his company was ranked as number 37 – the highest rank Chinese firm and the first ranked Austrian architecture studio. Last year Penda also appeared in Architizer’s list of Top 10 Architecture Firms to Follow in 2017.

Precht เคยเปิด Prechteck สตูดิโอออกแบบที่มีผลงานในหลายประเทศมาก่อน แต่ในปี 2013 Precht จับมือกับ Dayong Sun ก่อตั้ง Penda บริษัทสถาปนิกที่มีสำนักงานอยู่ที่ซาลส์บวร์กและปักกิ่ง ให้บริการครอบคลุมทั้งงานออกแบบอาคาร งานแลนด์สเคป งานออกแบบภายใน และงานดีไซน์แบรนด์ดิง ทั้ง Precht และ Sun เชื่อตรงกันว่า สิ่งก่อสร้างทางสถาปัตย์สามารถเป็นสะพานที่เชื่อมโยงระหว่างธรรมชาติ วัฒนธรรม และผู้คน เพื่อผลสุดท้ายคือคุณภาพชีวิตที่ดีขึ้น
เพียงไม่นานหลังจากเปิดตัว Penda ก็กลายเป็นตัวอย่างของบริษัทสถาปนิกเปิดใหม่ที่มาแรงและประสบความสำเร็จ ภายในชั่วระยะเวลาไม่กี่ปี สตูดิโอแห่งนี้ได้รับรางวัลและได้รับการเสนอเข้าชิงรางวัลรวมแล้วประมาณ 30 ครั้ง ในปี 2016 เว็บไซต์ Archipreneur จัดให้ Penda อยู่ในอันดับ 1 ของ Architectural Startups ส่วนเว็บดังอย่าง Dezeen เองก็จัดให้ Penda เป็นอันดับ 37 ของบริษัทสถาปนิกที่ดีที่สุดในโลก ซึ่งถือเป็นอันดับดีสุดของบริษัทในจีนและเป็นครั้งแรกที่สตูดิโอออกแบบจากออสเตรียติดโผการจัดอันดับนี้ และเมื่อปีที่ผ่านมา Penda ยังติด 1 ใน 10 ของบริษัทสถาปนิกที่น่าติดตามผลงานมากที่สุด จากการคัดเลือกของ Architizer
